42 x 42 x 42: Forty Two Full Marathons (42.195 kilometers) by 42 Years Old

Yes, it’s official. I have decided to do 42 full marathons by 42 years old (or before I reach 43 years old). As of this writing, I am 33 years old and have done 2 full marathons last February. Doing the math (age/remaining years and full marathon goal) means that I should do 5 full marathons per year in the first 2 years, and 4 full marathons per year in the succeeding years before I reach 43 years old. My timeline should look as:

  • February – Condura Skyway Marathon
  • February  – TBR Dream Marathon
  • July – Milo Marathon
  • August – Tagaytay to Kawit Ultramarathon 53km

  • October –
  • December –

38 yrs old – 4 full mary

39 yrs old – 4 full mary

40 yrs old – 4 full mary

42 yrs old – 4 full mary

Help me fill out my timeline for my bold attempt to do 42 full marathons in the next 9 years. As I love to travel and run, I want to enjoy and do both at the same time. I will try to conquer the world, discover the world by feet, through running full marathons. My timeline is a work in progress as running schedules may change over time.

  1. Hi Jie. I stumbled upon your blog while googling BR’s T2N ultra. It seems we share the same passion although I started my journey at 42 and I am now 47. I currently have 41 marathons under my belt as I try to reach my 100 marathon goal by also doing an average of one marathon a month. I regularly search the net for local and international races since I also make it a point not to do the same race again. I have since become an expert at getting the best airfare deals 🙂 Good luck on your 42 42’s at 42. I hope to bump into you in one of our future marathons.

    1. Hello Jan,
I appreciate your comments above. Its awesome to know that there is someone who shares the same passion as much as you do. I was actually never into running before but here I am now, an insane ultra runner. I look forward to meeting you in any runs soon. At the same time that i love to run, i love to travel as well thus i try to watch out for budget fares that will hopefully coincide with a run outside the country. All the best!
