Soul Searching in Seoul, South Korea

This is one of my most awaited travel for 2013! This is the closest that I can get to Japan (for now – I thought). I have always wanted to see the cherry blossoms and I thought this should be a good start. Let me share to you my 5-day itinerary to Seoul, South Korea, learnings, must do’s, etc. I will create a separate blog/link for each day as this will definitely be a long blog.

Just a few reminders before you leave:

1. Print a map of the subway station. Believe me, this will be your bible when you are in South Korea.

2. For a 5 day stay, I had with me 400,000 Korean won. You will need liquid cash to buy your tickets in the subway (reload your T-money), for street food, for some restaurants, and for shopping.

3. It will be helpful to download an application in your smartphone – Korean translator so that you can converse with them or at least ask basic questions like food, subway, thank you, hello, etc. There are many establishments that has no English translation (menu, name of establishment, subway station), and 50% of the people I have spoken are not able to speak in English. But don’t get me wrong, despite language barrier, Koreans are still very eager to help: they will speak in their language and you keep on speaking on your language.

4. Check the weather forecast for your entire stay. Ensure that you have appropriate clothing for your stay.

5. Book your hotel/hostel/guest house in advance. For budget travels, Namsan Guesthouse is recommended as the staff are friendly, helpful, and their guesthouse is very near Myeongdong Shopping district and Myeongdong subway station. They also offer 5% discount if you will pay them in cash.

  5. Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is important and everything. But think
of if you added some great pictures or video clips to give your posts more, “pop”!

Your content is excellent but with images and videos, this blog could definitely be
one of the very best in its field. Excellent blog!

(from what I’ve read) Is that what you are using on your blog?

  11. First off I would like to say fantastic blog!

I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you do not mind.
I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your mind prior to writing.
I’ve had difficulty clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out there.
I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be
lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin.
Any ideas or hints? Thank you!

  12. I’ve been surfing on-line more than three hours nowadays, but I never found any attention-grabbing
article like yours. It’s lovely price sufficient for me.
In my view, if all webmasters and bloggers made just right content material as you probably did, the web will be much more helpful than ever before.

Do you ever run into any internet browser compatibility
issues? A few of my blog audience have complained about my
website not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in
Opera. Do you have any solutions to help fix this issue?
